Bridge Navigation

Furuno, JRC, Sperry, Raytheon Anschütz. Magnetron weak echo, ECDIS freezes, gyro alignment, autopilot rudder hunt.

Service available at all US ports — 24/7 worldwide. Our next available technician contacts you within 1 hour.

Symptom checklist

What we hear from the bridge.

  • Furuno FAR-2228 weak echo, magnetron current below 1.5 mA
  • JRC JAN-9201 ECDIS frozen during ENC update
  • Sperry NaviGat 4000 gyro heading offset 3° from GPS COG
  • Autopilot rudder hunting ±2° on calm sea
  • AIS Class A intermittent target loss
  • Echo sounder ghost echoes under 20 m
Likely root causes

Where the fault usually lives.

  • Magnetron end-of-life after 3000+ hours
  • ECDIS HDD bad sectors or RAM ECC errors
  • Gyro support gimbal bearing wear
  • Salt corrosion on AIS antenna N-connector
Equipment we bring

Calibrated test equipment, class-acceptable reports.

  • Bird 4304A through-line wattmeter & 50 Ω dummy load
  • Anritsu MS2720T spectrum analyser
  • Furuno FSV & JRC service terminal
  • Actisense NGT-1 NMEA protocol analyser

Reports compatible with DNV · BV · ABS · Lloyd's · TL · RINA · ClassNK · IRS.

FAQ

Common questions for this system.

Which bridge equipment makers do you service?
Furuno FAR-2xx7 and FAR-3xx0 radars, FR-21x5 series, JRC JAN-9201/7201 ECDIS, JMA-3300/5300/9100 radars, Sperry NaviGat 4000 and Standard 30 MF gyros, Raytheon Anschutz NP-2025/NP-5500 autopilots, Furuno FA-170 and JRC JHS-183 AIS Class A. We resolve NMEA 0183, IEC 61162-1/-2 talker-listener mismatches and NMEA 2000 backbone faults using a Actisense NMEA Reader and a USB-to-RS422 line monitor.
How long does a typical bridge navigation attendance take?
A single-symptom call (one radar tx not radiating, one ECDIS frozen, one autopilot drift) is two to four hours alongside. A full bridge integration check after a yard period or a master-gyro swap runs eight to twelve hours, including sea-trial heading verification on a Pelorus compared to the magnetic compass. We bring a Furuno service dongle, JRC maintenance laptop image and a spare set of magnetrons in common 9 GHz ratings on request.
Can you attend the annual class survey on the bridge equipment with the surveyor?
Yes. We routinely attend with DNV, BV, ABS, Lloyd's Register, ClassNK, RINA, TL and IRS surveyors for the annual navigation and radio item. We pre-flight radar performance monitor checks, ECDIS chart corrections vs. NM week, gyro error logbook entries and autopilot self-test before the surveyor steps on the bridge, so the witnessing itself takes about ninety minutes and the certificate is endorsed the same call.
