FAQ
Common questions for this system.
- Which navigation light and accommodation lighting brands do you support?
- Glamox MIR-R, MAX and ELP series, Den Haan Rotterdam DHR-70N and DHR-115N COLREG-approved nav lights, Aqua Signal Series 41 and 55, plus Phoenix and Wiska junction boxes. We retrofit MH and HPS cargo hold floods to LED (typically Glamox FX60 LED 250W) and replace failed magnetic ballasts with electronic equivalents. Type-approval markings (USCG, BV, DNV, Wheelmark MED) are verified on every replacement nav light before fitment.
- How quickly can you replace a failed masthead or sidelight before sailing?
- If the failure is reported before sailing window, we can usually land at the gangway with a type-approved spare within four to eight hours in Florida and Gulf ports, twelve to sixteen hours nationwide. Swap-out itself is one to two hours including light failure alarm reset at the nav light panel (typically Den Haan or Perko controller), main and emergency bus changeover test, and a logbook entry confirming visibility per COLREG Annex I.
- Can you sign off a navigation light replacement on the Safety Equipment Certificate?
- Replacement is documented on our service report with the type-approval certificate number of the new fixture, photographs of the rating plate, the light-failure alarm test result and continuity readings on Fluke 87V. For Safety Equipment Certificate endorsement, DNV, BV, ABS, Lloyd's Register, ClassNK, RINA, TL or IRS surveyor attendance is required; we coordinate the joint visit so the endorsement is added on the same call without an extra port stop.
