Main Engine — Electric / Control Side
Engine telegraph, fuel rack actuators, RPM pickups, safety trip logic and starting-air valves on MAN, Wärtsilä, Hyundai-MAN B&W slow-speed and medium-speed engines.
Service available at all US ports — 24/7 worldwide. Our next available technician contacts you within 1 hour.
Symptom checklist
What we hear from the bridge.
- ›Telegraph order disagreement between bridge and ECR
- ›Random shutdown on overspeed trip with no real overspeed event
- ›Fuel rack actuator stuck or oscillating
- ›RPM pickup signal noisy, governor hunts
- ›Pre-lub pump auto-start fails before main engine start
- ›Cylinder exhaust temperature deviation alarms (FlexView / NORIS)
Likely root causes
Where the fault usually lives.
- ›Faulty RPM pickup, magnet gap drifted
- ›Aged shielded cable degraded, EMI on 4–20 mA loops
- ›Encoder coupling fatigue on Woodward actuator
- ›Wet engine room JB on safety trip wiring
Equipment we bring
Calibrated test equipment, class-acceptable reports.
- Druck DPI 620 pressure / loop calibrator

FAQ
Common questions for this system.
- Which main engine control platforms do your ETOs cover?
- We attend MAN B&W ME-C and ME-B (MOP/ECS, MPC cards, HCU back-up), Wartsila RT-flex and RT-flex96C WECS-9520, plus older Sulzer RTA mechanical-electronic governors. We troubleshoot Woodward 723PLUS and UG-25+ governors, fuel rack feedback potentiometers, Hall-effect RPM pickups, shaft turning gear interlocks and Lyngso/Kongsberg ECR alarm extensions over Modbus RTU and CAN. Class-acceptable safety trip testing (overspeed, low LO, oil mist) is part of the standard scope.
- How fast can you get an ETO to the berth for an ECR alarm fault?
- From the Florida desk we dispatch to any US Gulf or East Coast port within four to eight hours portal-to-gangway; West Coast and Great Lakes is typically next available flight, twelve to twenty hours. For a single ECR alarm card or RPM pickup fault, the attendance itself runs three to six hours alongside, including witness restart. We carry Fluke 87V, Fluke 754 process calibrator and a Tektronix scope for governor signal capture in our flyaway kit.
- Will your report be accepted by my classification society for a condition-of-class clearance?
- Yes. We write attendance reports in the DNV, BV, ABS, Lloyd's Register, ClassNK, RINA, TL and IRS expected formats, with calibration certificate annexes for the test gear used, signal-trend printouts and before/after parameter dumps from the MOP or WECS. If the surveyor is attending in parallel, we coordinate the safety trip witnessing live with the Chief Engineer so the CoC item can be lifted on the same call.
