Smoke Detection

Standalone smoke detection systems — sensitivity drift, beam-detector misalignment, sampling-line blockage. SOLAS / Class compliant test logs.

Service available at all US ports — 24/7 worldwide. Our next available technician contacts you within 1 hour.

Symptom checklist

What we hear from the bridge.

  • Ionisation detector test card shows >20% sensitivity drift
  • Beam detector loses signal after the vessel rolls heavily
  • Aspirating sampling line clogged with cargo dust
  • False alarms only when galley fan is running
Likely root causes

Where the fault usually lives.

  • Detector head dust loading beyond chamber threshold
  • Beam path misalignment after hot work nearby
  • Sampling pipe pin-hole blockage
  • Pressure differential through the protected space changed
Equipment we bring

Calibrated test equipment, class-acceptable reports.

  • Manufacturer calibration kit (Solo 330 + Solo C3 test cap)
  • Beam alignment laser
  • Sampling-line flow meter
  • Class-witnessed test report template

Reports compatible with DNV · BV · ABS · Lloyd's · TL · RINA · ClassNK · IRS.

Often needed together

Parts most often requested with this service.

FAQ

Common questions for this system.

Which smoke-detection technologies and brands do you service?
Consilium Salwico, Autronica BS-100, Thorn Marine and Notifier addressable loops with ionisation, optical (photoelectric) and beam detectors, plus Wagner Titanus and VESDA-E aspirating systems on cargo and machinery spaces. We test sensitivity drift with the manufacturer's hand-held service tool (e.g. Consilium SMT-2), clear sampling-line blockages with reverse air-purge, and verify zone addressing on the loop with a Fluke 87V and the panel's diagnostic menu.
How long does a full smoke-detection system test take?
On a mid-size bulker with 120-160 addressable detectors, a full point-to-point test using smoke aerosol and the panel log takes eight to ten hours over a watch. Aspirating system sensitivity verification with calibrated smoke and flow-test of each sampling pipe adds two to four hours. We disable cross-trips to general alarm and CO2 release at the panel during testing with the Chief Officer's sign-off and restore them with a witnessed end-to-end test before leaving.
Is the smoke-detection report acceptable to class and flag?
Yes. The report references SOLAS Ch II-2 Reg. 7 and FSS Code Ch 9, lists each addressable point with detector type, sensitivity reading, pass/fail and date of last replacement, and is in the format DNV, BV, ABS, Lloyd's Register, ClassNK, RINA, TL and IRS surveyors expect for the annual / renewal Safety Construction survey item. Service tool calibration certificate and aspirating flow-test print are annexed.
