Symptom checklist
What we hear from the bridge.
- ›Section valve solenoid drops out when pump starts
- ›Pump skid cannot hold 140 bar standby pressure
- ›Local control panel shows nozzle-test pressure below threshold
- ›Annual flow test fails on one zone only
Likely root causes
Where the fault usually lives.
- ›Section solenoid coil insulation breakdown
- ›Strainer choked by sea-water deposits
- ›Nozzle internal swirl chamber corrosion
- ›Pump cavitation after suction-line leak

FAQ
Common questions for this system.
- Which engine-room water-mist systems do you service?
- Marioff HI-FOG OEM-grade service on the GPU pump skid (electric and diesel-driven), section selector solenoid valves, accumulator pre-charge and the dedicated detection panel. Also Ultra Fog and Tyco AquaMist installations. We pressure-test the high-pressure piping to 140 bar with a calibrated Druck DPI 705E reference, replace clogged spray heads, and verify section valve actuation against the detection panel cause-and-effect matrix per FSS Code Ch 7.
- How long does the annual water-mist discharge test take?
- The annual is six to eight hours alongside: pump skid start sequence verified (electric primary, diesel back-up auto-cut), accumulator pressure logged, one ER section discharged to a temporary catch tray to confirm nozzle pattern, the other sections actuated dry to confirm valve operation. Pre-charge nitrogen is topped up, filters changed, and the system is left armed with the Master Fire Safety Plan signed off by the Chief Engineer and the attending surveyor.
- Do you coordinate the discharge test with the class surveyor?
- Yes. The annual water-mist discharge is a witnessed test for DNV, BV, ABS, Lloyd's Register, ClassNK, RINA, TL and IRS. We pre-attend the day before to clear nozzles, check pump and detection panel, then time the live discharge for the surveyor's arrival window. The report references FSS Code Ch 7 and MSC/Circ.1165, attaches the Druck pressure test record and a photo of each restored section with its locking pin re-inserted.
